An ePTFE gasket (also called expanded PTFE gasket or soft PTFE gasket) is a soft, highly compressible cut gasket made from 100% virgin expanded PTFE sheet. It is twisted, bendable and highly conformable, so it seals steel flanges as well as flanges with irregular, pitted or damaged surfaces where a hard gasket would leak. It does not exhibit the cold flow problems of virgin PTFE or the hardness problems of filled PTFE.

Where ePTFE outperforms the alternatives
Wherever soft, conformable sealing makes the difference
Choose ePTFE when the flange surface is irregular, pitted, scratched or damaged, when the flange is made of plastic or FRP that cannot take high bolt torque, or when the equipment is glass-lined and requires minimal seating stress. ePTFE compresses with far less bolt load than solid PTFE and conforms to surface imperfections. Compare with Virgin / Filled PTFE for regular flange service.
No. Because ePTFE has a microporous fibrous structure rather than a dense solid structure, it does not exhibit the same cold flow behaviour as virgin PTFE under sustained bolt load. This makes ePTFE a safer long-term seal for critical joints without needing to re-torque frequently.
