PTFE tube (also called PTFE tubing) is a hollow cylindrical product made from virgin or filled polytetrafluoroethylene. It combines near-universal chemical resistance, a working temperature range of −190 °C to +260 °C, one of the lowest friction coefficients of any solid material and FDA food-contact approval. This makes it the standard choice for chemical transfer lines, electrical insulation sleeves, food and pharmaceutical transfer, pneumatic and hydraulic lines, laboratory equipment and vibration-damping applications. Kaxite supplies extruded PTFE tube up to 120 mm outer diameter and moulded tube up to approximately 3000 mm, in virgin PTFE or filled grades (carbon, graphite, glass and other additives).
PTFE rod (also called PTFE round bar or PTFE rod stock) is a solid cylindrical product made from virgin or mechanical grade polytetrafluoroethylene. It has the lowest coefficient of friction of any solid material, equal static and dynamic friction coefficients, no slip-stick behaviour and near-universal chemical resistance. This makes it the standard material for machined seals, valve seats, bearing pads, bushings, insulators and laboratory fixtures. Kaxite supplies PTFE rod from 3/32" to 6" in virgin grade and 3/16" to 2" in mechanical grade — on coil or reel, in straight 1000/2000/3000 mm lengths, or cut to customer-specific lengths. Grounded rod is available where exact diameter and roundness are critical.
PTFE sheet (polytetrafluoroethylene sheet) is a flat plate product made from virgin or filled PTFE resin. It combines near-universal chemical resistance, a working temperature range of −190 °C to +260 °C, one of the lowest friction coefficients of any solid material, FDA and EU10/2011 food-grade approval and flame resistance to UL94V0. PTFE sheet is produced by skiving for thicknesses below 6 mm and by compression moulding above, giving a smooth, dense surface that machines easily into gaskets, seals, bearing pads, liners and insulators. Kaxite supplies PTFE sheet from 1 mm to 150 mm in standard stock size 1200 × 1200 mm, with anti-static, one-side etched and two-side etched options available for specific applications.
Expanded PTFE sheet (also called ePTFE sheet or soft PTFE sheet) is a highly compressible sealing sheet made from 100% virgin PTFE. The expansion process creates a soft, fibrous structure that conforms perfectly to uneven sealing faces and seals at very low bolt load — properties that standard skived or moulded PTFE sheet cannot match. It is FDA compliant, resists virtually all chemicals from pH 0 to 14, and does not exhibit the cold flow problems of virgin PTFE or the hardness problems of filled PTFE. Kaxite supplies expanded PTFE sheet in standard 1500 × 1500 mm size, thickness 0.5–6 mm, with properties comparable to GORE, KLINGER and TEADIT sheet materials.
Expanded PTFE joint sealant tape (also called ePTFE joint sealant or self-adhesive PTFE tape) is a soft, highly compressible sealing cord made from 100% virgin PTFE with a self-adhesive backing strip. It is used to seal flanges that are difficult to gasket with a conventional cut sheet — large, complex, irregular, pitted or damaged faces — and where the joint is opened frequently. The tape is simply pressed onto the flange, overlapping at the ends, and the joint is bolted up. It resists nearly all chemicals from pH 0 to 14, works from −268 °C to +260 °C and up to 100 bar, does not hydrolyse or harden, and separates cleanly from the flange after use.
Expanded PTFE gasket (also called ePTFE gasket or soft PTFE gasket) is a soft, highly compressible cut gasket made from 100% virgin expanded PTFE sheet. It is twisted, bendable and highly conformable, so it seals steel flanges as well as flanges with irregular or damaged surfaces where a hard gasket would leak. It does not exhibit the cold flow problems of virgin PTFE or the hardness problems of filled PTFE. Kaxite supplies expanded PTFE gaskets cut to size from 1/2" to 24" — and custom gaskets to drawing — in Style 1310 White, with FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 compliance.
