Expanded PTFE sheet (also called ePTFE sheet or soft PTFE sheet) is a highly compressible sealing sheet made from 100% virgin PTFE. The expansion process creates a soft, fibrous structure that conforms perfectly to uneven sealing faces and seals at very low bolt load — properties that standard skived or moulded PTFE sheet cannot match. It is FDA compliant, resists virtually all chemicals from pH 0 to 14, and does not exhibit the cold flow problems of virgin PTFE or the hardness problems of filled PTFE.

Regular PTFE sheet (skived or moulded) is dense and solid, requiring high bolt load to seal. ePTFE soft sheet is expanded into a fibrous structure with 55% compressibility — it conforms to surface irregularities and seals at very low bolt load. See PTFE Sheet for the dense alternative.
0.5-1 mm for standard smooth flanges; 2-3 mm for irregular or damaged surfaces; 4-6 mm for large diameter or high-compression applications. Send us your flange detail and we will recommend the right thickness.
Absolutely. ePTFE soft sheet is designed for in-house cutting with simple tools — scissors, die cutters or a CNC knife table. It can also be supplied pre-cut to your drawing by our factory with no extra tooling charge.
